Our graduation scheme concerns the metamorphosis of the existing plan for IJburg and the unitary development plan for Haveneiland, taking as its basis the landscape and existing natural values. The task was to find a better way to attune nature and city.
Fact is, the urban expansion area of IJburg is the scene of a conflict of interests. At present a magnificent nature reserve, the site also has great potential for housing development. How might these two elements coexist?
An ever-present factor in the implementation of this metamorphosis is man's attitude to nature. The two are regarded as partners who are to work together in the city, man leading here, nature dominating there.
