The project 'the unrolled periphery' sets out to engage in direct polemic the current Vinex policy and the precept underlying it of the city as cultural phenomenon. Taking as its theme the expansion of the national housing stock, it subjects the issue of densifying the Randstad to a series of 'stylistic exercises' that send an 'urbanization corridor' stabbing through the sacred Green Heart of that conurbation. This effectively does away with the entireVinex issue at a stroke, relegating the existing urban cores to peripheryand bringing cultivated landscape and nature into a new confrontation.
