Various cultural facilities, including a large auditorium for rock concerts and disco sessions here join forces with a new bridge across the River Maas as the mutually reinforcing components of a new urban node. Interweaving the facilities generates a locus where movement and repose, views and containment, activity and concentration, route and place converge. A marker along the route day and night, it constitutes both a viewing platform and a springboard to the other side of town.
